Rules of Relay

Terms and Conditions for Cancer Research UK Relay For Life, 2010

The rules listed below are designed to protect you as a supporter and the monies that you have worked so hard to raise for Cancer Research UK. Please take some time to carefully read and understand them.

Following these rules ensures that you spend an enjoyable weekend in an environment that is both comfortable and safe.

Upon entering a Relay For Life, all participants must agree to abide to the following rules:

1. All participants enter this event entirely at their own risk and Cancer Research UK shall not be liable for any injury or loss that might occur as a result of their participation, except as a result of Cancer Research UK's negligence.

2. Participants and volunteers under 18 years must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times. We can take no responsibility for under 18's on the day.

3. By taking part, all participants confirm that they are happy for their names and any footage or photographs taken during their participation in Relay For Life to be used to publicise Relay For Life and Cancer Research UK generally including online publicity and television broadcasts.

4. Any participant unsure of their physical ability to take part in Relay For Life should take medical advice from a general practitioner prior to the event. Although Relay For Life is not a challenge event, team members should bring any health problems or medications to the attention of the organising committee via their team captain prior to the event.

5. In the case of emergency Cancer Research UK may use the data provided by you to contact your home or office.

6. You have a legal responsibility to ensure that all donations / monies received or raised in any way by you for Relay For Life are paid to Cancer Research UK through your Relay Committee before and / or on the day of the event.

7. All team captains and members must submit their team registration form and fee (£15 for members aged 18-60, £10 for 60 and over and £5 for under-18s) when they register online or via the hotline number. This secures the team's pitch and use of facilities at the event. The location of the pitch is at the discretion of the Relay Committee.

8. There is no 'on the day' entry for Relay For Life teams.

9. The Relay For Life team registration fee is not refundable unless the event is cancelled.

10. It is the responsibility of the team captain to ensure that all consents have been given and returned to the Relay Committee.

11. It is the responsibility of the team captain to ensure all team members have registered online or by phone in advance of the event.

12. Cancer Research UK Relay For Life is a tobacco free environment. Smoking is strictly forbidden in any public area of the Relay event.

13. Relay For Life is a family event and alcohol should be consumed only in moderation. Anyone behaving inappropriately or in a manner such as to cause disturbance or annoyance to other guests or participants will be asked to leave. Should a Relay venue not allow alcohol consumption then the consumption of alcohol at the Relay site will not be allowed.

14. Use of our website is subject to Cancer Research UK's website Terms and Conditions.

Risk statement

Cancer Research UK takes all reasonable steps to minimise the risk of injury to participants during fundraising events. There is a stringent risk assessment process in place for each and every event which aims to minimise or eliminate the risk to everyone taking part. However, by taking part in this event, you acknowledge that there may be conditions or circumstances beyond our control that can lead to unforeseen risks.
