We are beating breast cancer help us fight harder
Cancer Research UK is the largest single funder of breast cancer research in the UK. Last year we spent nearly £44 million on ground-breaking research into the disease.
We support over 4,500 world-class scientists, doctors and nurses based in universities, institutes and hospitals throughout the UK. In fact, around 90% of the UK population lives no more than 30 miles from one of our research sites.

Our progress so far
Although breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, the number of women dying from the disease has fallen to less than 12,000 for the first time in almost 40 years.
Our work covers all aspects of breast cancer, from understanding its molecular causes and investigating new ways to prevent it, to improving early detection and developing better treatments. Read about our progress so far.
Clinical trials
Our clinical trials give women across the UK the chance to participate in research on the very latest breast cancer treatments.
Cancer Research UK is funding around 20 breast cancer clinical trials across the UK that are investigating new ways to prevent and treat the disease.
